"On these beautiful, still summer mornings, there was always that lazy moment before the shock of the little splash when we would take in the morning sun and the summer scents and look into the water. In those days, there were no motorboats, and, with such tranquility, there was always the chance of seeing a loon in close to shore looking for easy minnows."
